Until your baby is ONE year old life will be all about adjustments - for both of you .It’s too soon to expect your baby to have structured sleep patterns, so take the cues to establish a healthy and natural sleeping schedule.
In general these are the sleep phases babies go through in the 1st year:
· A newborn baby sleeps about 8 hours in the daytime and about 9 hours at night, in total
· Most babies start sleeping through the day 6 hours when they are about 3 – 4 months old and 10 hours at night
· When they are about 6 – 9 months they sleep 5 hours daytime & 10 hours at night
· At 12 months old, babies generally have their nap once a day 3 hours, sleep 11 hours over night
